APPLY TO AFS EDITING 2024



AFS Editing is a training program open to all UAE nationals and residents with at least one editing credit in a short film. Applicants must have a fundamental technical background in editing and be able to use one of the four main editing softwares: Adobe Premiere Pro, Logic Pro X, DaVinci Resolve or Avid Media Composer.

PLEASE NOTE THAT:

  • Your application can be submitted in English or Arabic.

  • Any applications with missing documents or information won’t be considered.

  • Shortlisted candidates will need to attend an in-person interview.

Motivation letter containing the following
  • Why do you want to take part in this program?
  • Share the titles of films that are influential to your work (up to three titles).
  • Share the names of the film directors that are influential to your work (up to three directors).
  • Answer the question "What does cinema mean to me?" (up to 100 words).
  • Share the titles of your favorite books (up to three titles).
  • What color do you dislike the most? And why? (up to 50 words).

  • Subject must be What My Eyes See/ ما تراه أعيني.
  • You can interpret the title to share any story from your life, something you have experienced, something you like or dislike in your surroundings. You have creative freedom to present what the phrase means to you.
  • Use your voice as a voice over (you can use your mother tongue with English subtitles).
  • You can use any footage from the internet or something you have filmed.
  • If you wish to film anything new you can use what is accessible to you.
  • You can use sound effects, ambience sounds, or field recordings.
  • Use of any editing software is acceptable.
  • Using music and visual effects are not permitted.
  • Using text is not permitted.
  • You can't appear in your film talking to the camera.
